Yang Style 24 Form Tai Chi
 
The 24-Posture Simplified Form of Tai Ji chuan, sometimes called  the Bei Jing Form for its place of origin, is a short version of Tai Chi composed of twenty-four unique movements.The form was the result of an effort by the Chinese Sports Committee, which, in 1956, brought together four Tai Chi teachers -Chu-Guiting, Cai-LongYun, Fu-Zhongwen, and Zhang-Yu- to create a simplified form of Tai Chi as exercise for the masses. The creators truncated the traditional Family style Tai Chi forms to 24 postures; taking between four and five minutes to perform and to give the beginner an introduction to the essential elements of tai chi chuan, yet retain the traditional flavor of traditional longer hand forms (in general, 88-108 postures). Henceforth, this form was broadly promoted by China for general exercise, and was also taught to internees in Communist "re-education" camps. Due to this official promotion, the 24-form is most common the Tai Chi-Form with the largest number of practitioners in China and the world over.

1.   Starting posture起势
2.   Part the wild horse’s mane 野马分鬃
3.   White crane spread its wings 白鹤亮翅
4.   Brush knees and push forward 左右搂膝拗步
5.   Play the Lute 手挥琵琶
6.   Step back, reeling forearms (Repulse Monkey) 左右倒转肱
7.   Grasp sparrow’s tail onleft 左揽雀尾
8.   Grasp sparrow’s tail on right 右揽雀尾
9.   Single whip 单鞭
10. Wave hands like clouds 云手
11. Single whip 单鞭
12. Stroke horse’s back 高探马
13. Cross hands, heel kick 右蹬脚
14. Strike opponents’ ears with fists (Double bees buzzing ears) 双峰贯耳
15. Turn, cross hands and left heel kick 转身左蹬脚
16. Single whip low and stand on left leg 左下势独立
17. Single whip low and stand on right leg 右下势独立
18. Jade lady works shuttle 右左穿梭
19. Needle at sea bottom 海底针
20. Ward off and push away 闪通臂
21. Turn intercept and punch 转身搬拦捶
22. As if closing shut 如封似闭
23. Cross hands 十字手
24.  Concluding posture 收势

24式太极拳分解动作

1、起势 动作分解:左脚开步、两臂前举、屈膝按掌2、左右野马分鬃 动作分解:
(1)左野马分鬃:抱球收脚、转体迈步、弓步分手
(2)右野马分鬃:后坐翘脚、抱球跟脚、转体迈步、弓步分手
(3)左野马分鬃:后坐翘脚、抱球跟脚、转体迈步、弓步分手

3、白鹤亮翅 动作分解:跟步抱球、后坐转体、虚步分手
4、左右搂膝拗步: 动作分解:1)左搂膝拗步:转体落手、转体收脚、迈步屈肘、弓步搂推
(2)右搂膝拗步:后坐翘脚、转体跟脚、迈步屈肘、弓步搂推
(3)左搂膝拗步:后坐翘脚、转体跟脚、迈步屈肘、弓步搂推

5、手挥琵琶 动作分解:
跟步松手、后坐挑掌、虚步合臂
6、左右倒卷肱 动作分解:
(1)右倒卷肱:转体撤手、提膝屈肘、退步错手、虚步推掌
(2)左倒卷肱:转体撤手、提膝屈肘、退步错手、虚步推掌

16、左下势独立 动作分解:
收脚勾手、蹲身仆步、转体穿掌、弓腿起身、提膝挑掌
17、右下势独立 动作分解:
落脚勾手、蹲身仆步、转体穿掌、弓腿起身、提膝挑掌
18、右左穿梭 动作分解:
(1)右穿梭:落脚坐盘、抱球跟脚、迈步滚球、弓步推架
(2)左穿梭:后坐翘脚、抱球跟脚、迈步滚球、弓步推架

19、海底针 动作分解:
跟步松手、后坐提手、虚步插掌
20、闪通臂 动作分解:
提手收脚、迈步分手、弓步推掌
21、转身搬拦捶 动作分解:
转体扣脚、坐身握拳、踩脚搬拳、转体旋臂、上步拦掌、弓步打拳
22、如封似闭 动作分解:
穿掌翻手、后坐收掌、弓步按掌
